Our Name
In the Scripture, a woman named Esther has a choice to be the instrument of deliverance for her people, the Jews. An orphan raised by her Uncle Mordecai, Esther receives grace and favor and eventually becomes Queen of Persia. She then has the opportunity to plead for the salvation of her people “for such a time as this.” “Esther” is a Persian name which means “star”, but her Hebrew name was Hadassah or “Haddie” for short. Our original Executive Director, T.R. Amason, was inspired by this scripture and a dream she believes is from the Lord to establish Haddie’s “for the children, for such a time as this.”

- Provide a place of healing from emotional and psychological wounds.
- Teach practical skills for successful transition into adulthood.
- Create a family community existing as a vital part of the larger community - living out a reciprocal relationship of giving in service and participating in action.

Core Values
Christ Centered
We believe Christ’s love is the reason for Haddie’s and the way in which the mission will be realized. “The love of Christ compels us” (2 Cor 5:14) We believe the heart of God is to care is to care for children in crisis who are in need of a home , to reconcile them to Himself through his Son Jesus Christ and to heal and restore them. Haddie’s is a place where the love of Jesus Christ is known and shared in a structured , safe family environment – a place where trust and hope are built.
Child Focused
The child’s interest is our number one focus. We believe that the whole family is in need of healing, but our vision is to begin with the child who is in crisis. Because of their previous home life experience, many of these girls have never been able to enjoy just “being a child”. We intend to help them just be children , playing and participating in activities with the other children in their home and community.
Community Oriented
We desire for the girls living at Haddie’s to be an integral part of the community, having a working relationship with local agencies, ministries, churches and schools.
For such a time as this
Our initial home is for girls, ages 12 to 18, who come by referral from individuals, agencies, Alabama DHR, and churches. We have been blessed with the use of an existing home on a large tract of land in Lee County, Alabama, complete with a backyard swimming pool. Each day our residents are given individual responsibilities and learn new things—lessons that will ultimately guide them in establishing a healthy life and family of their own.
The vision
The vision for Haddie’s is to glorify God by creating and maintaining a premier facility for placement of girls in crisis, while being the hands of Christ, helping to shape the heart and future of the girls who will live there.
The mission
The mission of Haddie's is to provide a Christ-centered home environment of trust and hope where girls in crisis have an opportunity to see God fulfill His purpose for their lives.
