Foster Care Placement

Haddie's Home accepts residents placed by the Alabama Department of Human Resources.  Our average length of stay for foster care placement residents is between 9 months - 36 months.

Requirements
  • Between 12 - 18 years of age
  • Biologically female
  • Behavior Requirements (exceptions may be made on a case by case basis)
    • Mild emotional and/or behavioral problems
    • Must be able to function in public school, with or without IEP
    • No current alcohol or drug dependency
    • No history of sexual offending behavior or sexual perpetration
    • No active suicidal or homicidal threats, ideation or behavior.
      • If previous history, medical and psychiatric documentation will be reviewed
  • Not expecting a baby 


Cost (Unless a resident receives a sponsorship)
  • Haddie's Home accepts the standard Alabama Department of Human Resources foster care room and board payment
  • DHR is expected to cover the cost of medical visits and prescription medication that are required but not covered by Alabama Medicaid
  • DHR is expected to cover the cost of clothing through clothing vouchers and school supplies
  • DHR is expected to cover the cost of at least 1 extracurricular activity
  • DHR Is expected to cover costs as outlined in the ISP

Visitation
  • During the admissions and intake process, visitation will be discussed
  • Typically visitation will not occur during the initial 30-day orientation period unless otherwise noted on the ISP  
  • Based on family need and resident behavior, residents will be given the opportunity to receive home passes ​​
